9th Artists Without a Gallery Juried Show
The 9th edition of the ‘Salão dos Artistas Sem Galeria’, promoted by the printed and online portal ‘Mapa das Artes’, holds, from 15/01/2018 (Galeria Sancovsky) and 16/01/2018 (Zipper Galeria), the two simultaneous exhibitions with works of the 10 artists selected in this edition.
Participating in the 9th edition of the Salon are the artists Angela Od (RJ), Caio Pacela (SP/RJ), Renata Pelegrini (SP), Mercedes Lachmann (RJ), João GG (RS/SP), João Galera (PR/SP), David Almeida (DF/SP), Élcio Miazaki (SP), Sonia Dias (SP) and Yoko Nishio (RJ). The artists were chosen by the jury formed by Fernanda Resstom (Galeria Central), Nathalia Lavigne (independent curator) and Renata Castro e Silva (Galeria Carbono). The ten artists participated in two simultaneous group shows in São Paulo, at the Sancovsky and Zipper galleries, between 15/1 and 24/2; and at Orlando Lemos Galeria de Arte, in Nova Lima (MG), between 3/10 and 4/20/18.
The exhibition of selected artists brings together works in different techniques and formats, such as paintings, sculptures, drawings, collages and photographs.
The 9th edition received 154 entries, from 11 States plus the Federal District. São Paulo attended with 87 artists. Rio de Janeiro sent 33 entries. Next came Minas Gerais (11), Paraná (six), Distrito Federal (five), Rio Grande do Sul (four), Goiás (two) and Santa Catarina, Espírito Santo, Bahia, Ceará and Maranhão (one each).
The ‘Salão dos Artistas Sem Galeria’ aims to evaluate, exhibit, document and publicize the production of visual artists who do not have verbal or formal contracts (representation) with any art gallery in the city of São Paulo. The Salon traditionally opens the arts calendar in São Paulo and is a gateway for selected artists into the world of arts.
